The performer expressed his “unbridled excitement to be headlining the Pyramid stage” in a statement.
There is no better way to say farewell to my British supporters as the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour draws to a close, he continued. They have supported me through all the highs and lows of my career and have been beyond brilliant. I am eager to participate in the world’s greatest celebration in its spirit.
He then posted on Instagram, writing: “Every week I speak to new musicians on my radio program, and Glastonbury is often identified as a critical point in launching their careers. I’ve long loved the festival’s genuine, enthusiastic support for the best developing talent. It’s going to be an emotional final UK show, so thank you for having me, Emily Eavis.
The one and only Elton John will headline the Pyramid Stage on the Sunday night of next year, the co-organizer of Glastonbury, Emily Eavis, announced in a separate statement. “It gives me enormous pleasure to let you know that the one and only Elton John will be making his first-ever Glastonbury appearance,” she added.
We’ll be wrapping off the Festival and celebrating this monumental event in both of our histories with the mother of all send-offs because this will be Elton John’s final performance in the UK of his entire career.
