Next month will see the publication of MIKE’s album “Beware of the Monkey.”
In preparation for his next album, MIKE released “Stop Worry!” on Tuesday, his third single from the project. Famous Jamaican Dancehall performer Sister Nancy, best known for her 1982 smash hit “Bam Bam,” is featured in the title.
Before Sister Nancy’s recognizable voice emerges during the song’s second half, MIKE flows over the slow-tempo dancehall-inspired beat. The Dancehall songstress’s hypnotic and melodic sound perfectly complements MIKE’s foggy performance. He released the song on November 29th, his mother’s birthday, as a memorial to her.
In the music video, MIKE is seen playing video games and getting his locs retwisted while in a white bedroom going about his regular business.
On December 21, rapper MIKE, who is frequently associated with Earl Sweatshirt, will release Beware of the Monkey. On the record, which follows 2021’s Disco!, his tracks “What Did I Do?” and “nothing I can do is Wrong” will also be included.
According to MIKE, the album’s title struck him while dining at a Chinese restaurant. He noticed that his birth year coincided with the year of the Tiger in the Chinese horoscope. The rapper chose “beware the monkey” as the title of his new album since his horoscope warned him to.
The 24-year-old is having a busy year so far; earlier this month, he released a three-track joint project with Wiki and The Alchemist.
Earlier this month, MIKE also revealed details of his North American Ipari Park Tour. In the spring of 2023, the future tour will include stops in cities including Toronto, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Atlanta, and Boston.
