Jimmy Jacobs, better known as Solar Fact, grew up between Brooklyn and Queens, New York, where his passion for hip-hop first took root. Inspired by pioneering artists such as Run DMC, Fat Boys, and LL Cool J, Solar Fact began writing rhymes at just eight years old. Although his early work remained largely unrecognized, it set the foundation for a lifelong dedication to music.
Solar Fact’s aspirations were interrupted when he faced a 20-year prison sentence for charges including weapons, drugs, robbery, and escape. However, even behind bars, he found ways to stay connected to his musical passion. He participated in rap battles, using the competitive environment to sharpen his lyrical abilities and stage presence. These experiences not only sustained his creativity but also strengthened his resilience and commitment to his craft.
Upon his release in 2012, Solar Fact faced the challenge of navigating the music industry with little formal experience. Determined to create opportunities for himself and others, he founded Indestructable Entertainment. The label was built on the principle of encouraging authenticity and originality in an industry often driven by trends.
Solar Fact’s personal music projects embody these ideals. His 2013 debut single “I’m That Guy” gained widespread attention online, reportedly amassing millions of likes and shares. The track’s success opened doors to numerous interviews and commercial placements, helping establish Solar Fact as an emerging voice in independent hip-hop.
In 2016, he launched The Matrix project, offering audiences a choice between the “red pill” and “blue pill” musical experiences—an innovative concept that symbolized the contrast between mainstream familiarity and authentic, thought-provoking artistry. The red pill offered more commercially palatable sounds with a lyrical twist, while the blue pill encouraged listeners to engage with deeper, more original material.
