“The journey keeps going”: Skillibeng teases new music

At this year’s MOBO Awards, the 25-year-old also won Best Caribbean Music Act.

As well as thanking his followers, Skillibeng previewed upcoming new music. Watch our conversation with the rapper in the video up above.

On the red carpet before the 2022 MOBO Awards, where he won Best Caribbean Music Act, the Jamaican rapper spoke to NME.

The Lessons musician vaguely replied that he has “a lot of new music” in the works when asked if any new music was forthcoming.

He told, “The journey continues. I’ll continue to pursue an exciting career.

He informed us that “it’s hard work too… ” when we inquired about what it’s like to be one of the top musicians in Jamaica’s prominent music scene. Skillibeng’s work is ongoing.

He also expressed his gratitude to his “true fans” for their support in his “electrifying” career, saying, “It’s a feeling of satisfaction and appreciation to my followers. It’s a wonderful feeling to have so many supporters in general.

The 25th MOBO Awards, which are being held at London’s OVO Wembley Arena, mark Skillibeng’s third visit to the city; he was pleased to meet some of his admirers. “The people mess with Skillibeng heavy in London so it’s always a fantastic vibe here when I interact with the people here,” he added.

Skillibeng has worked with some of the top rap, dancehall, and afrobeats artists in the globe throughout the year 2022. He most recently appeared on the song “Slip ‘n Slide” from Afropop sensation Wizkid’s most recent album, “More Love, Less Ego.” Along with British-Gambian Pa Salieu, he also appears in the viral club smash “blessing me” by famous producer Mura Masa.

Skillibeng won the MOBO for Best Caribbean Music Act award over Sean Paul, Spice, Shenseea, Koffee, and Popcaan.
